ABOUT GENITAL HYGIENE

What is genital hygiene?

Genital hygiene concerns the health and wellbeing of the genital region. t is complex because it is a part of the body is made up of skin, moist areas and glands, which make it prone to irritation and infection. Secretions (moistness) are normal and help keep it clean and healthy.

Are there any problems with washing my genitals?

Yes. The skin and moist areas of the genitals are very delicate. Over cleaning can be harmful and disrupt the body’s careful balance. It is important not to wash with harsh chemicals that can irritate the area. Washing with lukewarm (not hot) water and a soap-free cleanser is the best way clean the area.

Genital Hygiene should be maintained by washing the genital area carefully each day. Soap-free and specially formulated products like Kiss Down Under are ideal for cleaning this sensitive area.

Wearing tight and synthetic clothing and underwear, the unnecessary use of antibiotics and inadequate cleaning regimes can lead to bacteria build up and eventually infection. Wash cloths and towels should be washed after contact with the genital area, rather than reused or left for an extensive period of time. Wash your hands after using the toilet and after coming into contact with the genital area. This prevents bacteria and germs from developing and spreading. General aftershaves or deodorants should not be applied directly to the genital regions as they often contain alcohol which can dry the skin and make the region sore.
